The Battle Begins With the Ball-IUG 2017

                             Inter-university Games 2017 ‘Inter university games 2017’, the most astounding sport occasion of the year has now got off the ground with the initial match being held at University of Moratuwa grounds between University of Moratuwa and University of Visual and Performing Arts. Being the first day of the series, today, in all, there played twelve universities in six grounds. Moratuwa vs Visual & Performing Arts – at Moratuwa grounds Peradeniya vs Ruhuna – at Peradeniya grounds Colombo vs Eastern – at Colombo grounds Sabaragamuwa vs SouthEastern –at Sabaragamuwa grounds Wayamba vs Jaffna – at Wayamba grounds Rajarata vs Uva –at Rajarata grounds University of Moratuwa in the initial match of both the series and their team, chose to ball first winning the toss.

         The University of Visual and Performing Arts team could score only 66 runs having all out at the end of 21.2 overs having surrounded by the balling and the fielding strength of the UOM team. The match concluded around 12 noon with the victory of UOM team, scoring 69 runs in 8.4 overs having all wickets safe. At the University of Colombo grounds, UOC team marked their victory by 229 runs against Eastern University adding the maiden half century to the series. Apparently, what could thrive the UOC team into triumph is the half century of Tharana Nakanda along with the fall of wickets of the Eastern University team.

       The encounter between University of Peradeniya and University of Ruhuna could add color to the entire tournament with the century of Kavishka Dissanayaka of UOP. The match concluded with the victory of the UOP team by 9 wickets. The encounter of University of Uva vs. Rajarata University winded up at the Rajarata University grounds making the Rajarata team victorious.

        Despite being defeated or victorious, to our eyes, being the spectators, all of the twelve teams were so obsessive about ‘not’ giving in and about making strides, which, accordingly foreshadowed how ‘promising’ they are now and will be throughout the whole tournament.
